Smash the Wombat SMaSH IPA
SMaSH stands for Single Malt and Single Hop—a brewing approach that uses one malt variety and one hop variety to showcase what each ingredient brings to the beer.
For Smash, we paired clean, crisp Pilsner malt with Simcoe hops.
The Pilsner malt creates a light, easy-drinking foundation while Simcoe takes center stage with the hop character that has made it a favorite among American IPA drinkers.
At 5.6% ABV, Smash delivers the character of an IPA without becoming overly heavy.
Simple ingredients. Plenty of character.

Pilsner malt gives Smash a clean, light foundation with a subtle malt character that stays out of the way and lets the hops shine.
It’s exactly what this beer needs—and nothing it doesn’t.
One Hop: Simcoe
Then comes Simcoe.
A longtime favorite in American craft brewing, Simcoe is known for its distinctive combination of citrus, pine and fruity hop character.
Using it as the only hop in Smash gives you a chance to experience what Simcoe can bring to a beer without other hop varieties competing for attention.
One Easy-Drinking IPA
Put them together and you get a lighter take on an IPA that’s crisp, hop-forward and easy to come back to.
At 5.6% ABV, Smash is built for the person who wants plenty of hop character without needing the biggest IPA on the board.
Why SMaSH?
Brewers can create incredibly complex beers using combinations of different malts and hops.

Why a Wombat?
A wisdom is a creative collective noun used to describe a group of wombats.
While these Australian marsupials are usually seen on their own, when they do gather, their group can be called a wisdom.
With our Australian roots and a brewery named Wisdom, the wombats quickly became part of our story.
And eventually one of them decided to start smashing things.
We decided to give him a beer.

Smash may take inspiration from the simplicity of SMaSH brewing, but he’s part of a much bigger Wisdom.
He’s brewed right here at Wisdom Brewing in historic downtown North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, alongside our growing lineup of locally brewed beers.
