What is a Wisdom of Wombats?
Glad you asked.
A wisdom is a creative collective noun used to describe a group of wombats.
Wombats are native to Australia and are usually pretty happy wandering around on their own. But when they do gather together, their group can be called a wisdom.
With our Australian roots, a love for these stubborn little marsupials and a brewery named Wisdom, we couldn’t exactly stop at just one.
So, one by one, our Wisdom started to grow.

Meet Our Beer Wisdom

Steve the Wombat
Aussie Pale Ale • 5.2% ABV
Easygoing, approachable and always up for a beer with a few mates. Steve is where our Wisdom begins.

Mary Ann Wombat
Wheat Ale • 4.8% ABV
Bright, approachable and always ready for whatever the day brings. Mary Ann keeps the rest of the Wisdom on their toes.

Paul the Wombat
Oatmeal Stout • 6.4% ABV
A little darker, a little richer and probably convinced he knows the best way to do just about everything..

Combat Wombat
American IPA • 6.8% ABV
Some wombats choose peace. This isn’t one of them. Combat Wombat brings a little more attitude to the Wisdom.

Albert the Wombat
Kölsch• 5.1% ABV
Clean, crisp and perhaps a little more refined than his fellow wombats. Albert likes things done properly.

False Start
Pale Ale • 4.7% ABV
Not every great idea gets off to a perfect start. Fortunately, it’s where you finish that matters.

Aussie Haze IPA
Hazy India Pale Ale • 6.5% ABV
Southern Hemisphere soul meets Pacific Northwest punch with Galaxy, Simcoe and Krush hops bursting with tropical and citrus flavor.

Smash the Wombat
SMaSH IPA • 5.6% ABV
One malt. One hop. One determined wombat. Pilsner malt and Simcoe hops come together for a lighter, easy-drinking IPA with crisp malt character and a classic hop-forward finish.
Aussie Roots. North Carolina Home.
Wisdom Brewing’s Australian connection isn’t something dreamed up in a marketing meeting.
Co-owner Mick grew up in Queensland, Australia, before eventually making his way to the United States. His wife and co-owner, Aynsley, is a North Carolina native, App State graduate and longtime lover of the mountains and the communities that call them home.
In 2020, they made Wilkes County home.
Wisdom Brewing brings a little of those two worlds together — Australian roots, North Carolina community and beer brewed right here in downtown North Wilkesboro.
The wombats just seemed like a natural fit.
Come for the Beer. Stay a While.
