Amber the Wombat

AUTUMN ALE • 5.3% ABV • 15 IBU

Dark, toasty and just a little sweet.

Amber pours a deep amber bordering on brown, with a mildly sweet beginning, notes of toasted malt and a dry finish with just a hint of roastiness.

Meet Amber

Amber brings a little warmth to the Wisdom.

She’s rich without being heavy, sweet without being too sweet, and has just enough roasty character to keep things interesting.

Like a perfect fall afternoon, Amber doesn’t need to make too much noise to get your attention. She’s comfortable, approachable and pretty easy to spend some time with.

And when the weather starts cooling down in the North Carolina foothills, she fits right in.

Meet the Beer

Amber the Wombat Autumn Ale

Amber starts with a layered malt bill of Pilsner, caramelized malt, Midnight Wheat and oats, creating a beer with plenty of color and malt character without becoming overly heavy.

She pours a dark amber color bordering on brown and opens with a mild sweetness followed by notes of toasted malt.

As the beer moves across the palate, that initial sweetness gives way to a dry finish with a subtle hint of roastiness.

Australian Galaxy hops provide the hop component, while a restrained 15 IBU keeps the focus firmly on Amber’s malt character.

At 5.3% ABV, she’s flavorful, approachable and made for another round.

What’s in the Glass?

Dark Amber & Toasty

Amber’s combination of Pilsner and caramelized malts builds the foundation of the beer, bringing malt character and a gentle sweetness up front.

Her deep amber-to-brown color hints at what’s coming before you ever take the first sip.

A Hint of Roast

Midnight Wheat adds depth, darker color and a subtle roasted character without turning Amber into a heavy dark beer.

The result is just enough roastiness to show up toward the finish without overpowering the softer malt flavors.

Smooth & Easy Drinking

Oats round things out while the beer finishes surprisingly dry.

At only 15 IBU, bitterness stays restrained, allowing the malt profile to remain the star of the pint.

Galaxy Meets the Malt

You might recognize Galaxy from some of the other members of the Wisdom.

This Australian hop is often associated with intensely aromatic, hop-forward beers, but Amber gives it a different job.

Here, Galaxy plays a supporting role rather than stealing the show.

The result keeps one of our favorite connections to Australian brewing in the recipe while allowing Amber’s layered malt character to remain front and center.

Amber’s Kind of Pint

Some members of the Wisdom are loud.

Amber isn’t trying to be.

She’s dark but not heavy.
A little sweet but finishes dry.
Toasty with just a touch of roast.

Sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Why a Wombat?

A wisdom is a creative collective noun used to describe a group of wombats.

While these Australian marsupials are usually seen alone, when they do gather, their group can be called a wisdom.

With our Australian roots and a brewery named Wisdom, the wombats quickly became part of our story.

Every beer gets its own personality.

And this one?

She’s Amber.

Be Wise. Live Like a Wombat.
